Questions(?) and Answers(!)

Questions...Questions...Questions...Questions...Questions...Questions...Questions...Questions...
Questions...Questions...Questions...Questions...Questions...Questions...Questions...Questions...

I am tired.
Why is the productivity so low?
Why is the delivery delayed?
Why is the number of defects so high?
Why there is so much of deviation against the planned?
Don't you think you could have done that?
Don't you know you should do this?

It's so easy to ask questions. But answering them...????

I am tired.

Do a Root Cause or cause & effect Analysis. If you think you can overcome current situation, then you have answers with you.

Else, apply MP.

Yeah Answering to Questions is not that easy though, that too if we are under tremondous pressure.

But remember onething, Ships are not made to only sail in Harbour :)-

Success is not Final and Failure is not Fatal, Courage is what counts :)-

Arasa, Thanks for the suggestion.

I think I will go with MP policy.

Ship...sail...harbour...!!! I am not getting it.

Success or Failure okay-da...Survival is in question.

Arasa,

My Webcouter shows 3 clicks from South Africa in last 3 days. Whereas Cluster map doesn't reflect the same as not all clicks are shown in the map.

So that leaves only Australia. :)

Seeni, I think I have got the answers ...

Why is the productivity so low?

Skill and experience profile of the project team
5 Mainframes resources CANNOT perform the job of 2 good VB Programmers

Why is the delivery delayed?

Specifications were ambiguous, inconsistent, incomplete and constantly changing.

Why is the number of defects so high?

Time over-runs
Lack of skilled personnel

Why there is so much of deviation against the planned?

Could not develop a contract with the customer because of unavoidable 'Out of scope' politics!
Specifications were ambiguous, inconsistent, incomplete and constantly changing.

Don't you think you could have done that?

I could have if I had the right team with the right contractual management (Whilst Inadequate contractual protection, being the problem we had)

Don't you know you should do this?

Good Lesson learnt... Will have to definitely assess the risks involved before stepping into SDLC.

Practise saying No! right at the beginning and fear not and anticipate the consequences. At times a pessimistic approach will be helpful.

Radha - I agree that learning to say no is very very important.
