Number of good movies in Tamil is very less compared to Malayalam. But it is better than Telugu. Far far better than Kannada movies. In Telugu I saw very good movies recently like Nandavanam 120 KM, Godavari. Movies like Mozhi is definitely a break in recent tamil masala culture. There are many good movies in Malayalam, but it seems Kerala people are getting bored of it. Because recently all malayalam movies are big flop, Pokiri made a historic revenue in Kerala. I always blame Cine Industry for making masala movies, it seems people also want it.

When seeing your table, number of hits is very less. As per me, it is due Illegal VCD and repeated masala culture.

This shows how people in Tamil Nadu are bond to movies. But one thing is for sure, the story of none of the movies are original. The director either remakes an old movie or steals a story of some anonymous person. One original DON(by Big B) was made as BILLA (Rajnikanth) and now new DON(SRK) and again a new BILLA(Ajith). No wonder why so many tamil movies release in a year. I was astonished by Gautham Menon's 'Pachakili Muthucharam' until I saw 'Derailed' ,the original version. Jothika was nowhere nearer to Jennifer Aniston.

I guess only olden day's Ramayana, Mahabharatha , Poombuhar kinda movies would be true Indian-made movies cause the stories actually originated here.I am actually in the process of discovering true Indian-based movies(not taken from Hollywood).....help me if you found some....

To Ann,

I think you are used to more Hollywood Movies and started comparing Indian Movies.

I dont watch many hollywood movies, but definitely I can say there are lot of indian movies which are unique, original & classical..definitely list is endless not all indian movies are copied from hollywood.

More Over, Copy Cat is a good marketing strategy.. If many can make good amount of business and money from it then whats wrong in copying the best thing from one place to another.

Ofcourse, Nowadays No of good movies getting released in a year is reducing.

Seeni,
I was surprised to c the Turnover of Ajith's Varalaru, crappy

I look at it in a different angle...Stats shows that Tamil film directors are more creative than directors in other languages...Key point here is the interest that people show towards Tamil films....They deliver the right mixture...they succeed too..looking at the comments above, i would say, even remaking it needs a special attention...had the movies been the same as what had been before..none of us would bother to watch it...so this reason could justify the blog

@Karthikeya

I am a fan of 'class' or 'mass' holly-bolly-kollywood movies, but my point here is our search to true-Indi based movies would be lesser.

And 'copy cat' strategy is also accepted. Say for instance DON(Big B) was way different from DON(SRK),matches the taste of present day youth.

I even enjoy remix songs. But my question is ,have the directors gone exhausted with new ideas and thoughts? Are there not any untold issues or stories(solla marandha kadhai edhuvum illaya?)? Of course we have legends who made good cinema, one like our very own KB. But present day very few or rather no movie comes with a original story.

I am also against the so-called 'naalaya' superstars(excuse me if u are a Vijay or Chimpoo fan ;-))

@ Anu

- I see that a positive thing happening in tamil film industry (while the 'naalaya' superstar stupidism also continues).

I think a good movie depends always in the eyes of the beholder.

For example: I saw Varalaru on the first day and enjoyed it. I even told my friends that it was good and would be a sure hit. My friends who watched the movie based on my word hated the movie and hated me too. But the statistics says that Varalaru is the #1 hit movie last year.

Anyways, all the best for your endeavour.
