Corporate Ladder

With an average of 3 years in each designation, to climb to the top position (CEO) at my organization I would have to spend a quarter century from now. By that time I would be in my mid fifties losing out to competitors and might not become a CEO as I would be too old & on the verge of my retirement.

What should I do?

Start your own company (Or) MBA (Or) Drop out from MBA

Here are my suggestions:

1) Aim for double promotion. That should take only 12 years

2) Plan a coup and try to overthrow the current board of directors. Arasan can assist you

3) Defect to companies for a higher position. 7 hops to seven different companies and on your 8th hop to Infosys, you will be the CEO

4) As Arasan said, start a company and build an empire, you can be more than a CEO .. you can be a Chairman, Chief Mentor and what not .. all at one time.

just kidding man .. I am reminded of Alwa's words (or rather The Gita's) .. "To action alone hast thou a right and never at all to its fruits; let not the fruits of action be thy motive; neither let there be in thee any attachment to inaction" .. You will be a CEO at 55. By the way, what have you lost by 55?? You would still have 10 years to rule.

Drop out from MBA? I don't get it.

@ Bals

I think 55 would be too late. I am not sure whether I would be able to even think straight at that age. I am sure there would be younger, better and more intelligent candidates around as my competitors and I might lose. May be I would have lost all my aggressiveness by then.

My MBA dream is growing stronger day by day. After my MBA I want to build my own empire.

Anna,

Think of the good things of not becoming a CEO...

Then probably you would say "Thank God.... Until 55 I will not become a CEO.."

something like 'this fruit is sour'?

Isn't that loser's talk?

Bill Gates,
Steve Jobs,
Mark Zuckerberg,
Shawn Fanning,
Larry Page,
Sergey Brin....

does it ring a bell ??

Sarangan said...

"loser's talk"...sort of....

but, actually my point was that the advantage of becoming a CEO should be weighed.....

"Is it really good? Is it really good to us personally?"..thatz what I wanted to stress....

Apart from that, even I accept that having big ambitions are good....

Now, my style of Idea....(but not for you as you are married...) look whether Narayanamoorthy or Nandhan has any daughters...could directly become the chairman......

Narayanamoorthy has a daughter and also a son....
so then, even I hold a chance of becomming a CEO ;-)

@ Arasa - I am not sure whether I have it naturally in me like those people. I need education to gear myself up. :)

(till I had offline chat with you it did't "ring")

@ Sarang & Anu...that's totally out of my league.

Just to add on Bill Gates has a beautiful daughter.

Anyone wants the pics?

You don't have to pull the boat with raw power when U have to direct the boat towards destination with the use of raw power.
The raw power is Ur assistance not Ur competition
